Hey guys. I'm looking to purchase myself a rimfire rifle. It will be used for target shooting and maybe hunting in the future. Im looking for a bolt action 22lr with iron sight. This gun will see ALOT of use. What seems to be the most accurate/reliable rifle from the factory out there under the $500 mark? I was looking at the Savage Mk2, CZ 452 and the Remington Model Five. Any help educating me on my 1st rimfire purchase would be appreciated.

Good day.

Comparing the 3 you mentioned.
I would look at weight.
The bolt handle lift....(a nice angle is 70 degrees like the SAKO.)
And trigger pull.

Personally, I enjoy my Ruger 77/22.
It has their patent rotating bolt, the bolt lift is about 95 degrees.
And trigger pull is decent....about 7 pounds.
What's nice, is the integrated scope mounts.
This model is a few hundred dollars more.

I don't own any of the 3 you mentioned, but if I were to choose.....Remington.
The rifle and parts are available at all my local gun shops.

Good luck

Hi Greg,

If you plan to used iron sight, then you should go for the CZ as it allow you to fine tune both front and rear sight and I think it is one of the best factory sight in the market.

Buy the best you can afford! You'll never regret buying quality firearms... (At least I haven't)

You can't really go wrong with the CZ, theyare the best bang for the $, not only are they really accurate, but they feel nice... kind of like a centerfire rifle. My #4 did a good job for varmint control and general plinking.

If you do a lot of off hand shooting, their LUX model have a nice drop of the stock... Personnaly, I'm kind of partial to the American

If you haven't done so already... spend a few minutes on rimfirecentral.com, you'll be glad you did!

maybe the 10/22 is over played, but i love mine, and my other, and i plan to get another they are great value, and so much stuff available for them.

Savage

I have a savage mark II with a bull barrel. It shoots one hole groups at 50 yards when I do my part. It comes with target sights and scope mounts so you can have the best of both worlds. I have also changed the trigger to allow for a very light target weight. I'm selling it if interested.
