Need suggestions for 300 yd spotting scope

Hi folks,

I'm getting back into being a little more precise than just hitting a big steel ram at 300 yards but my current POS spotting scope just doesn't cut it for seeing holes in paper at that distance. There's nowhere here in Yellowknife to look at any selection so if anyone can suggest something, or has first hand experience with something, that will suit my purpose I'd be grateful. I'm good to about $500.00.

Dorm - If this is just for range use and you think you may want to extend out to 1000 yards at some point, you may want to consider this:

I've seen it and it can be much better than even high-end spotting scopes at long range. Under 300 yards, even inexpensive spotters will do.

Another option that requires no large investment, but instead some of your time, is to make homemade shoot nc targets. I had good results with bullet holes being visible at 300 yd with a 15x scope. See the end of my OP here:
