I'm glad you've found happiness with the brand. But it sounds like a bit of honesty has come out about them in this thread.
I'm guessing it comes down to how honest you get with how your rifle shoots. True sub moa is rarer than most will admit.
They have a slick bolt and shoot accurately , generally. Nothing wrong with that.
Fact is they are a one action receiver(long action)pinned to provide a short action, with an aluminum recoil lug, and a plastic bolt shroud that will not protect the shooter and if by some miracle it did hold, forcing a portion of the balance of the chamber gas to the mag(which it does), it is a plastic mag and wont likely hold.
Some have kicked up about that crap and Tikka listened, or listened to their lawyers and made some changes in the T3X. Those are a metal bolt shroud ad a steel recoil lug. However in neither model did the consumer get the cost cutting savings from the manufacturing shortcuts, only increased retail pricing from Tikka.
They are overpriced for their build quality. They have a slick bolt. They usually shoot accurately. Those are facts.
If you wish a slick bolt and an accurate bolt gun with cost cutting manufacturing which affects safety, buy a Tikka T3
If you wish a slick bolt and an accurate bolt gun with cost cutting manufacturing with somewhat improved safety over the T3, buy a Tikka T3X.
