Can anyone tell me if this is possible and if the end result will be a quality job?

I'd prefer to just make the whole gun black entirely. Any recommendations on where to get this done in Canada?

Thanks

ArmaCoat the gun. Look at their colour selection, you don't have to go black there are a few different gray shades or come up with your own colour by mixing. I've done a couple of things and its easy stuff to work with. Where in ON are you ?

Thanks, I was actually just gonna delete this thread (or ask to have it done) because I was too dumb to do a search first.

My search showed that I can have the gun "blackened" and that the finish is about on par with "bluing". There's also a certain un-named company in Alberta that will do it for me apparently, though Im not sure of the costs and waiting time.

Is ArmaCoat durable?

The BIGGEST thing for me is that it needs to look like a "factory" finish... and not a dull plastic toy. The gun in question was pricey and I don't want it looking like a Norinco when all is said and done ;)

Just start calling the plating shops in your area. There are probly several shops in the city that you live in that will do nitriting. No point in sending it a thousand miles away. I personaly will not let anyone work on anything of mine if I can not get my hands around his neck. ;o) Rod

"...calling the plating shops in your area..." Yep. Look in the Yellow Pages for metal finishers. Ask them if they will do a firearm. They may not be legally able to do firearms due to our stupid laws though.
Brownells sells a SS blackener. Works like cold bluing. Mind you, getting a decent finish with any kind of bottled stuff isn't easy.

Im hesitant to just call up any random plating shop for that very reason... I'd prefer to have it done by someone who already has experience doing this exact process on a stainless gun.
