...who better to ask than the firearm community. I am expecting to receive a Ruger 10/22 in the mail from Le Baron this week or next (wedding anniversary present from my wife). My wife is also willing to splurge on some glass for it as well. I don't have any experience with rifle scopes and I would like your advise in this regard. I don't plan on doing any hunting...strictly target (bench) shooting for the time being.

I have been reading about the Mueller scope lineup over the past few days and am considering the Mueller Eraticator 8.5-25x50 AO model.

I have also seriously considered either the Bushnell Elite 3200 4-12x40 AO model, or the 5-15x40 AO.

Have you used any of the scopes listed above, or know of anyone who has any real world experience? I am somewhat nervous about purchasing a scope without talking to someone who has used it, or without using it myself. I am in the London area, and am a member of the East Elgin Sportsman Association if anyone is interested in showing off their setup.

Thanks.
Cameron.

Well....the elite is the way to go, or buy a used 4200 or even a VX leupy for the same $ (Thats what I'd do)

The bigger problem is the gun. Not exactly known as a tack-driver, more of a plinker. Unless you have the "T" model or are willing to spend a vast amount of cash modding the rifle, I would suggest a red-dot and stick to cans as a stock 10/22 will never posess the accuracy to use a high magnification A/O scope to anywhere NEAR its potential (It will make it easier to see those 10" groups at 100 though ;) ).

My advice, and worth exactly what you paid for it.

Both have eraticator on them. The top 1 is 10/22 and the bottom 1 is 10/17. I love the scopes I have a Mildot Mueller on my .223. The only thing I dont like about them is they are big on a 10/22 as you can see.

I don't mind look of the Eraticator on the 10/22. It's a bit big, but again it all comes down to personal preference. Have you been pleased with the Mueller lineup so far? It seems like their scopes offer more magnification as compared to a more popular brand name for less money. Just curious if you would have changed anything if you were to do it all over again?

Thanks.

What model 10/22 is it? What do you plan to use it for?

Both scopes mentioned are good for a target shooter on the target model but if you plan on a little varmint hunting with the carbine I would suggest something in the way of a 4X fixed. It will be much lighter and easier to handle out in a field. I have a cheap simmons mounted on mine and have had nothing but good times with it for three seasons. It's held zero for the whole time even with being beaten about in the back of the truck. I normally only shoot out to about 75 yards and have no trouble lining up shots on gophers.
