Need your opinions on a Glock 21

I've owned my Glock 21 for about 3 months now. It is accurate, reliable and dead simple to field strip. Two peeves: 1)If my hands get wet while I'm shooting I find the grips to be slick as snot. Thankfully, it doesn't happen too often. 2) Seems to be isolated to my gun only. It chucks brass at my face about 60% of the time. I plan on shooting it a little more before I bring it back to the store (Glock armourer on site :) ) and have them look at it.

I am very happy with the G21. Not the '###iest' looking .45 out there but its function makes up for the form and the ergonomics of the G21 really absorb recoil and makes it an easy pistol to shoot as long as it fits your hands. I have no regrets and I don't think you will either if you get one.

I like mine a lot. The usual Glock ergonomics, low bore axis etc., make it very comfortable to shoot. The trigger isn't great (it's no single action,) but a 3.5# connector and a 25 cent polish job made mine much nicer.

I haven't had any reliability problems that weren't related to my reloads not being hot enough to cycle the slide. Never had a single problem with factory ammo or reloads that were warmer than mouse farts.

You've got the requisite big mitts, I say go for it.

Thanks for the info,I have heard they are easy to shoot and the recoil not bad. I have shot some 1911's and some left me with a sore elbow at the end of a shoot. I'll probably pick up a G17 also for the savings in ammo and also the wifes hand fits it. I'm one of the lucky one's whose wife is not afraid of weapons and has also shot various calibers. I'm still trying to convince her to get her PAL but says, why when you can just take me as a guest

I've shot various glocks, all without any problems, failures, etc. etc.

You will be happy with the gun, just for the ease of cleaning and diassembly alone.

The reason I posted is to say, that just find a PAL instructor in your area and get your wife the course as a stocking stuffer for xmas. My girlfriend is getting her PAL soon and another PAL in the system is another vote for our gun rights. :)

Same problem as misfire, brass ejecting back at me. I took one off the glasses and a few off the top of my head. A woman I was teaching to shoot got one down her shirt and stuck between her breasts. I would have dove in after it, but she was dancing around with a loaded gun so I took the gun instead. I didn't like the big grip either. Sold it.

I would love to see a survey of who is using what and reviews on same. Is there a website with reviews on various current models of pistols?

My Glock wish list includes

G21 (.45 ACP Standard)
G34 (9mm Competition Grade)
G17 (9mm Standard Grade)

Also look at the Sigs... I think that the first criteria in the selection process is: What are you going to use the gun for? (I just want to drive tacks for a while... do some target shooting before I decide what direction I intend to follow). Second criteria for me is: How does it fit and feel? Am I comfortable with it? Interspersed somewhere in there is cost of purchase, cost of use, etc.

I can't see where you would be disappointed with any of the current Glocks once you set the first two parameters. Just be sure of what you are buying and its condition. New is good.

From what I have gotten so far, Glock it is. I would also like to get a Sig but $$$$$ Maybe I can convince my wife for a really good Christmas present this year

If you get a G21 , make sure it has the new updated trigger bar . The newest ones coming out do , if you take off the slide and look at the serial # on the bar , it will have the # and then ( -1 ) at the end . There was a couple of large police depts in the US. that were having light primer strikes , this is the fix from Glock. Here is a pic from the update .

Thanks for the info, I will keep it in mind. I wonder if the SF model will have a more user freindly grip. I have no problem with it now,I have big mitts but a bit smaller would be nice. I think I'll hold out untill the SF comes out and check. When handling a friends G21 , my wife complained about the grip but loves the gun itself, if it was a bit smaller it would fit her hand ok. I figure if I can get her interested and have her get a PAL, that's one more voice for us.

I love my G21 - it's not as pretty as my Kimber but I find the polymer frame is softer to shoot, and the large grip fits my hands well. I've got a Hogue grip sleeve on it as well, which takes care of any slick hand problems.

Another nice feature is being able to shoot 10mm out of it. I've got a 10mm conversion barrel from KKM, which means I can stuff in a G20 magazine and blast away. :)

The biggest problem most people have is the large grip. If it suits your hands it's a great 45.
