Building a long range rifle. Will be used for F-class long range, Varminting and perhaps sniping the occasional Bambi!!!!!!! Action is a 700, scope will Leupod, and barrel is a Shilen in 6.5 x 55. What would you guys reccomend for a stock.

Thanks
GC

OK! I hear you! what would you say to part time F-class and long range crow sniping??
Thanks for your comments

Those are some tricky requirements; you seem to need stock that:
- is very lightweight
- has a cheekpiece
- has a wide forend
- has mounts for sling & bipod

The last three are easy, but adding the first makes it less so; you might wanna go custom...

I think you will soon learn that any gun built to do all three jobs will excel in none.

Hunting rifles and competitive precision rifles have diametrically dfferent requirments, and then throw high-volume varmint hunting into the mix and you'll chew through the accurate life of your barrel in no time at all (One weekend of gopher hunting).

Build a proper F-Class rifle and then go blow $350 on a Stevens hunting rifle.

But I want to take my F Class rig hunting.

Haven't got to lay behind one but I have fondled and drooled on them.

I agree, I have already done this, I can tell you that it will not work, an F-class rifle needs to have a heavy bbl, and stock to stabilize the rifle and dissipate heat from long strings. I made my first rifle to serve two masters, and it served neither one well, it is going back into the woods this year as a hunting rifle.

I ended up building a second rifle to compensate for all the things missing from my first build.

I agree the Robertson GBF-F is outstanding, I used mine for my first F-class season this year, it was great.

Here it is below...

Barnard, GBF, Nightforce and what looks to be a straight blank barrel!!!! Tell me it's not in 6BR.

No, it is 25-243AI, it shoots Berger 115gn at 3200fps...
This was its first year, I have a lot of learning to do ..

I shot a robertson composite stock on a 6br this weekend with the ORA intro day. It was right handed and Im a southpaw, but the feel and quality of it was outstanding.
