Hi Guys,

I'm looking at a couple used bows (in great shape) and am wondering is anyone has experience, input or feedback.

Here's what I'm looking at :

2005 PSE Mojo - Dual Cam - Asking 600

2003 PSE Primos STL - single cam - Asking 300

????

I need something with good letoff, that's about it, size, shape etc doesn't matter. Good IBO speed preferred.

I have used the bow in the past, but am not an expert. Just need to hit a deer at 30 yards....so I don't need a new 1000$ bow...

I'm not too familiar with the Mojo dual cam,I can only asume that it has the NRG hybrid cam?
The Primos STL(Speak The Language) single cam I've shot( I owned the PSE "Quantum" which is near identical). This is a very forgiving bow with equally forgiving braceheight,The let-off is probably 70%.
It's axle to axle length(approx 37"?) is the only thing,IMO, to consider,ie: How tall are you? What's your draw lenghth? What type of terrain or bush will you be using this bow?
I find,IMO,that single cam bows are way easier to keep tuned you'll find less recoil & handshock and noise(vibration) from a single cam than a dual cam.
Good Luck,

I'm not familliar with the models listed but i do know Its gotta fit....most important thing.

Dont be to concerned about IBO speed. I killed a doe with a clean pass though this year @ 30yds using my browning rage clocked at a whoppong 221fps.

Good Luck,

I'm 5'7, and I'm not EXACTLY sure what my draw length is. Is there an easy way to find out?

I looked at them last night....didn't fire them though (yet). Both in great shape from what I can see. The grip on the Primos is awsome, the Mojo is kinda skinny, but yet a beautiful, light bow.
I've been leaning towards the single cam for ease of tuning etc. The guy said he finds the dual cams are "smoother".

If the Primos fits, that would be my choice. The Mojo is very nice, but it's more than I want to spend really. I just want something better than the old Bear Whitetail I have, without blowing up the bank. Thus said, is 300 a fair price for a 2003?

.

Unless your a knuckle dragger you likely will have a dl close to mine. (26.5"). This can be a problem because most bows wont adjust to much less than 29" and theres nothing that will mess up your ability to shoot well than shooting a bow with too long of a DL.

There are a few ways to measure dl, do a google seach and have a look.

Check out the www.archersnook.com they have some great prices on bows and you might be surprised what you can get for the price of a used bow.

I bought a Browning Rage One all dressed up for under $500. Its no speed demon but it fits me and I shoot it very well.

Wingspan method: You can determine your drawlength by measuring your wingspan (which is the measurement from fingertip to fingertip of your middle finger, with your arms outstretched), and then use the following chart: 61 inches = 23 inch draw, 62 = 23 1/2, 63 = 24, 63 1/2 = 24 1/2, 64 = 25, 65 = 25 1/2, 66 = 25 1/2, 67 = 26, 68 = 26 1/2, 69 = 27, 70 = 27 1/2, 71 = 28, 72 = 28 1/2, 73 = 29, 74 = 29.5, 75 = 30, 76 = 30.5

do not plaster yourself against the wall and reach as far as you can.. relax..straight up.. get someone to measure for you.

Just found out the DL's for both are 26 - 31.

Should just fit a short dude like me!!

Well there you go,one problem solved:) :dancingbanana: ;)
Dual cams "smoother"??,Don't get me wrong, there could be some truth to this statement. With a dual cam bow,you need to keep both cams perfectly sincronized for them to work properly(this is where tuning is crucial).
If one cam rolls over before the other you'll start to get erratic arrow flight which will show in your groups. If the bow feels good and fit's right then your on your way.

Well, I got the bow fitted and ready to go! Sighted in. WOW, what a difference from the old one. I have it set for 50lbs w/80% letoff. Lots of zoom zoom!!

Thanks to all for your advice and help!
Cheers!!

do yourself a favour and go to your local bow shop and let them help you out they will for the most part properly fit you and show you the basics. If you are anywhere near Barrie the wolf's Den is good or if you are done near Kitchener make a trip to the Bow shop they are great as well and if nothing else you will know your proper draw length and poundage that you want.
Good luck
