I'm looking for a cheap rifle to play around with in .308 but I'm a little picky when it comes to accuracy. Has anyone got a NEF to shoot consistantly under 1" with one of these rifles. I handload so load development is not a problem.

Are the NEF's reasonably consistant or is it hit and miss with what you buy?

For the few extra dollars I'd buy a Stevens 200, from what I have read, the NEF rifles are not tack drivers and they sometimes have ejection problems.

I have a handi in 204 and it is solidly sub MOA, but i would still go with the Stevens as well, MOA is not for sure but a safer bet.

I have a Handi-Rifle in .223 which when I bought it was probably the cheapest rifle one could get brand new, and the only one I could afford brand new. I think it can be shot consistently under 1", but I don't practice often enough to be sure. It is one of two Handi-Rifles I have shot, so with such a small sample, yes, they are consistent in production quality and accuracy.

I like mine and will keep it, but if a buyer had the same criteria that led me to the Handi-Rifle then, these days I think the Stevens 200 would be a better answer.
