NEF Sportster 17 hmr barrel ?

Just picked up a heavy barrel 17 hmr, beautiful shooting rifle.
One question,
Are there interchangeable barrels for this rifle ?
I want my son to use this as a 12 yr old soon and would like a 308 or 270 barrel options.
And are the NEF Sportster barrels interchangeable with the NEF handi-rifles?

I may be wrong but I don't think you can switch barrels from a rimfire to centrefire.
