Never fired?

How do I tell or how easy is it to find out if an advertised SKS has actually never been fired?

You probably can't ever guarantee that it's never been shot, but the general condition of the firearm and its barrel should indicate if it hasn't been fired very much.

EE feedback ratings matter. Although not a perfect system, a member's feedback rating along with the number of transactions means that you can hopefully trust the seller's word. When I say not fired, I mean not fired, or I would have provided an approximate round count in my ad.

Not so ^^^. I had one very early on that was not fired. They didn't factory test fire every one made like our Western standards dictate.

OP, you can tell if the rifle has been fired by disassembling and inspecting tell tale aspects. Bolt face, gas pistons, chamber, etc. Even one round fired will leave imprints and tell tale indicators. Even if clean, one can tell if it's factory clean or amature cleaning attempts.

Now, whether unfired or fired I wouldn't pay a premium for one over the other.

Now what? ... now what nothing except .. now we know you tell fibs.
No no...no, no, no...I had an unfired SKS 100%. Many of us did back in the day...all "we" know is that you don't believe it to be so. That's all.

As a matter of fact, I'm going to blow your little mind. The unfired gun at question wasn't refurbished (and yes, some unfired guns got refurbished with laminated stocks), nor was it covered in cosmoline. Just a fresh, minty, 1953 Izhevsk.

BTW - The 'other' SKS-s advert as 'Un-issued' may or may not have been 'issued or fired'. Someone here said 'their' U-I was Un-fired.
PK - didn't you take pics ? 😉

They've all been fired.
ALL guns get fired before they leave the factory. 🤷‍♂️

Also, it's an SKS. That would be like buying a zero mileage Yugo. Seriously, who cares, it's still a piece of commie junk ... and I say that being an SKS owner.
