Purchased a new 10-22 carbine last week, finally got around to cleaning it last night. Could not remove the barrel !!!!!. This is approx the 10th 10-22 I have owned, (3rd new one). Any ideas on how to remove ??? Presently barrel and receiver are in the frezzer. Hoping enough the cold may contract the barrel enough.

I had the same problem with mine last week. I just picked up two 10/22's at Bass Pro for $189.00. All of my previous barrels (approx 4) came off with little effort. This last one however was a real #####. I had to use a block of wood at front edge of the reciever and smack it really hard a couple of times with a wood mallet and then it slid right off.:D

Eli's Gun and Archery in simcoe ontario has ruger 10/22's for around that price. I beleive that is what i paid plus PST only. Not a bad deal. Simcoe is about 30 min from Hamilton and they are great guys to deal with, I beleive I am heading back in for a .17 when i return fom Wainwright. Here is there number 519-426-9042

I've never had a probem, barrels have always been easy to remove. Just remember that freezing will only give you the "advantage" of dis-simular metal properties... Good Luck, let us know...

Cheers

bolt

Try using the bolt to get the barrel to come loose. Pull it back and let it slam against the barrel with the v-block and trigger group removed. I've had to use the bolt a few times, sometimes it works. Good luck.
