new 10mm from STI

Kimber, Colt, Glock and STI all make great 10mm's that can handle full power 10mm, stay away from Tangfolio's (sp) 10mm guns though, I hear of a lot of problems with them.

I guess the tang is a little like the original Bren ten

There's nothing special about the 10mm. It doesn't do anything a .45 won't except cost more. It was another silly idea from Jeff Cooper.
I think Colt discontinued their Delta Elite. No mention of 'em on their site. Supposedly re-introduced in 2009 though.

Colt still makes the Delta Elite, but I think it needs an update to make it look like a modern 1911.

A S&W 1006 is another great choice as it was designed especially for the 10mm. Mine shoots like a dream.

I completely forgot about the 1006.

ya that is a really nice pistol. Wasn't that the original FBI issued 10mm when they made the switch? the full sized version with the 5" not the smaller one? a 1006 came up on ee a few months ago and lasted a matter of minutes. a couple of 4506s have come up more recently.

If I recall correctly there was only something like 32,000 1006's made, and the FBI used the 1006 and 1066 at the beginning. I think I paid about 800 bucks for mine a few years ago. It's on the " hell no never" list.

I plan to find out what she is made out of tomorrow.

Meh. We need to get real about these large/exotic calibre handguns. Everyone wants the hand cannon 'cause it's so cool to be loud and all Dirty Harry like, then in the same breath we ##### about the cost of ammo and consequently don't use the hand cannon that much. Why bother? Or bother and get a .500 and crack off a cylinder ever range trip - there you go. Now you're the big dawg.

Last week when I was at the outdoor range and two guys were blasting off their glocks beside me - 10mm and tattoos - very powerful. I had a pathetic little 17 and noodle arms. I was a little girly man and could barely hear the steel ring as I shot, not because the 10mms were blistering the steels and deafening my punk rounds but because the two badasses were #####ing so loudly about not finding their brass on the ground. Neither of these guys even reloaded as it turns out...

Pretty simple - are you gonna buy one or be one? Shooter that is.

Get a .45 and enjoy the big dawg experience and be honest with yourself and the rest of us. You keep it in the safe most of the time and shoot your 9 because you can afford it. 10 mm? Dream on.
