Hi guys I'm back with my edition of shooting in Ontario with my first precision rifle
Today was a great day got to Silverdale at 9am, decided to do some Trap shooting for the first time with my Baikal MP153 had about 50 Long-Range #5's and a buddy same thing, we had a blast
then moved on to 100 yards to check the zero on the rifles and also to check out the new Hornady Match 168gr that we bought (1 box)
so as some of you know I'm waiting on my reloading dies to come in to start loading my custom Diet to my Savvy
and for now I'm testing out the "Match" over-the-counter cartridges
I was a bit afraid that I took my stock off the rifle after last week's shooting to lower the trigger pull and to make sure the barrel and the tang is free of distractions.
Well I shot a group of 3 in Hornady 168gr and they grouped nice about 1/2" or so, also I've noticed that my rifle is starting to show me that it shoots better after about 5-6 foul shots.
I had picked up a box of Federal Gold Match 175gr this time (last week was 168gr), so I had 15 of these and about 12 of Hornady to play with. Others my buddy tried in his Stevens 200.
I figured that rather than spending my time at 100 yards I'd move to 200 yards as there was no one shooting there so I can put up my targets quick. The wind was off and on from left-to-right from about 2 km/h to about 10 km/h gusts, but I was taking my time and shooting the 22LR in the breaks
disclaimer: these are my best groups 4-out of about 6 groupings that I shot today
This groups are all at 200 yards (for those that know I was the guy shooting the 2 targets to the left of the steel gong)
First is the Hornady Match 168gr I shot it withing about 2 minutes, a 3-shot group
I was very happy with my group and moved on to Federal Gold Match 175gr
First a 3-shot group, and look at the 2 shots "kissing" those were #1 and #2 shots and then maybe wind or maybe my inexperince showed up
Then a 5-shot group, with MAGIC 175gr Gold Match
and a 4-shot group to follow, it would've been a 5-shot group but the wind picked up too much for me to guess, so I decided to hit the gong ones
That's all folks
till next time (prolly next Sunday...
)
