New .243, looking for high velocity reloading

Hello,
Just got a .243, it's an axis II and I bought a few hundred 55gr varmageddons and 62gr varmint grenades. Quick load suggests reloader 17 and IMR 3031 as a couple of the highest velocity before hitting max pressure powders but there's a lot of gun nuts out there... so someone has to have done it before. I don't want your loads, but with bullets like these, what powders should I try to really make them fly. I see lots of people online talking about 4000fps, but reloading data seems to end a few hundred short of that. I'm not a beginner reloader, but I want to go down the right path. If I make it I make it, if I don't, it's still fun.

Thanks,

Ryan

I have a couple cans of h380.. some 3031, lots of 4350/4831 kind of stuff too, but I think that's getting too slow. I bought a lot of boxed of bullets for the .243 this week. Something like 500 projectiles between 55gr varmageddons and 95gr ballistic tips... got to get to know this thing :)

There has to be one of those in every group. Of the three manuals I have at home, one is all about the Vmax which I'm not looking for, the second one starts at speer's 75 grain hollowpoint and the third one skips from 25-35 Winchester to .257. (That one was my grandpa's) All good books but not applicable to what I'm looking for.

I was going to add that hodgdon online also has good stuff, but I was looking for a little more personal advice. It's quite good though. There's more to it than any powder that can make it, some burn hotter/cooler, might be more accurate, etc.

I've had good luck with varget and 58gr vmax in gf's 243.

For sure get yourself a reloading manual asap. Then you will know.

Lots available online for free. No need these days to spend $40+ on a manual. Yes I have a few of them but 99% of the time I just get on line and get data from there. It goes everywhere I do and don't have to wonder what is in the book. Online also gets updated way before a new book is out.
