New 250 Savage McGowen Precision barrel

I am pretty pumped today. The 250 Savage McGowen Precision barrel (20 inch) that I ordered from Mystic Precision arrived in the mail y-day and today I finally had the opportunity to open the package and fondle it.

It is going to be a Savage switch barrel project and I have the donor rifle sitting in my gun cabinet. I usually do these projects in the winter months but I am really looking forward to this project so it might be a "rainy day" project instead. This is going to be a "using" rifle not a bench queen and I strongly suspect that one of my 13 grandchildren is going to "admire" this rifle right out of Grampa's hands. But not before Grampa gets a chance to shoot it for a while.

I wanted to pass along my Thanks to Jerry at Mystic Precision for his patience and guidance while I waffled about caliber, length, finish, etc etc. I'm pretty sure I tested his patience but he was always patient and full of helpful information. I honestly do not remember the time frame from order to arrival but it makes no difference to me anyway as I am/was in no hurry. Perhaps 2-3 months??

No hesitation on my part to recommend Mystic Precision for any custom barrel needs.

Absolutely will do. I didn't think that a picture of just a barrel would be very interesting so figured to wait until the build is done. But as I mentioned, this is going to be a "using" rifle so it won't be a beauty queen.

One of mine is a Savage Weather Warrior in .250 Ackley. A very nice rifle for shooting.

I was planning on a pair of 250 savages but i may just go with one for now. Ill go with jerry when i need the barrel
