Out of those choices -- the weatherby / howa is the best out of the box for value and accuracy and general feel of a rifle. The sub-moa concept was a way for weatherby to charge a couple hundred more when they realized that customers were asking for them to pick out the rifles which shot the tightest factory test targets. The cost of the non sub-moa vanguard puts it into a very good class of value for the dollar, and they still shoot quite well.

As much as I love the Tikkas, they do feel a bit unlike a rifle we may have grown up with..... that feel I now find to be very important to my happiness with a rifle

That is why, given my choice it would be a CZ with a set trigger . for the money, the bbls are hard to beat, they are very durable, built in dovetail mounts negates the need for more bases, and I find the accuracy very good to excellent, especially if you handload for that particular rifle.

You mean that someone has actually come out with a "new redesigned" 30-06 cartridge
If that's the case, i want one, that old 30-06 was BORING anyways :p
But, so far as the rifle goes, get a Tikka.

For some reason I picked Remington in the poll, but after having thinking about it for a bit, I believe the Vanguard is the better choice. As has been already said before, the XCR is basically a pimped out SPS. I believe the Vanguard is more like a properly finished Savage.

I voted weatherby. Check with a gunsmith doing warranty work on the new Rem.,sad !! Savage is good Ruger is good even the Stevens bolt shoots well and does not need to go back to the shop before it's able to hunt. My 2c AJ
