375 Ruger

Like Nothing You've Ever Shot Before!

The 375 Ruger is one of the most practical, hardest-hitting cartridges EVER for large and dangerous game. Cutting edge cartridge geometry and technologically advanced propellants enable the 375 Ruger to exceed the performance of the benchmark 375 H&H.* When fired side by side with the 375 H&H with 24" barrels, the NEW 375 Ruger delivers 170 fps more velocity from the 270 gr load, and 145 fps from the 300 gr loads!* Even when fired from a shorter 20" barrel, the 375 Ruger still delivers ballistic performance that exceeds the 375 H&H** (see charts below).

Featuring a new beltless case slightly larger in diameter than the belted magnums, yet equal to the 30-06 in cartridge overall length, the NEW 375 Ruger is designed to chamber in standard length action firearms.

Over the past several decades, the names Hornady and Ruger have become synonymous with “The Best”. The NEW 375 Ruger is no exception.

Ya but its short.:p Seriously, its been out for a while. As a practical hunting tool it's very good. The H&H is and always will be way cooler though.

Yes it has, and Hornady emailed me first quite some time back, so, i guess their trying to get some interest going before it dies like so many others.

I don't expect its going to die any time soon. It'll be great for standard length actions. 375 power in old mod. 70s without altering the actions. Those and stainless Rugers will make great platforms. I use mostly Mod.70 Classics now and they're long enough for the full length rounds so it won't do much for me.

Funny how they always compare the new numbers to the old, clunky, out of date calibers, like the 375H&H, 270Win, 30/06, 220Swift.

They may have minor advantages, and I mean minor, but we really can't get anything much better that what they had before WW2.

I hope it sells like crazy so I can get a 375H&H ............. DIRT CHEAP! :D

What would you have them compare them to? Something better?

Advice: Don't take a career in advertising.......:p

I think that putting 375 H&H performance in a cartridge that will fit into standard Ruger actions *and* promote longer case life for us reloaders is a winner!

The H&H performance is time proven, so we dont' have to argue abotu how a 300gr @ 2500fps bullet will work on game.

Of course, there will always be those that curse new cartridges.

Well its new so clearly its no f**king good for anything! But the new catridge will be a great platform for a .17 calibre improved beltless Wildcat that I've been working on so that's all good. . :onCrack:

I'm having a little trouble buying that "Smoothest feeding round on the Market" line. Like there was or is something wrong with the way the tapered H&H feeds. They'll probably sell a few before they quit making them.

that's what I think will be it's appeal. Less recoil than the RUM...
I've heard this argument before ............... These short mags seem have some magical ability to send bullets of equal weight in guns of equal weight at a significant INCREASE in velocity but at the same time there is a significant DECREASE in recoil, or felt recoil.

How does this work that recoil is reduced so much?

.

In this case the standard length cartridge 375 Ruger would be behind the RUM in power some. But the RUM is seriously overbore and kicks like a pissed off Mule!!

Well, considering that the velocity and case capacity of the RUM is greater than the Ruger, I expect the recoil of the RUM will also be greater.

This seems simple to me, but perhaps I am missing something. :)

Hey Gatehouse, next time your in our neck of the woods I'll be puttin' my custom 375 RUM in your hands and that will be it! There is no other like it, and man does she shoot! 270 AB's are the ticket at a touch over 3000 fps and sell inside MOA @ 100 and a 1" group out to 300. She balances extremely well in the Safari contour HS stock and the recoil knocked down considerably by the merc reducer and just the stock design, the Limb Saver helps too. BUT if I didn't build this hammer I would be going to the Ruger in a heart beat. Oh ya its 95 grains of H4350....is that a lot?

About 15 more grains than you woudl use in a H&H:D

I want a walkign about rifle, not too heavy, which is one of the reasons I've shyed away form the RUM, although I liek it's case design.
