New 38-55 bore size?

I'm hoping someone here can help me, I'm wondering if anyone knows the bore size of the new Win highwalls in 38-55. I am extremely computer challenged and do not know how to go about finding this out.

I may be dense but I thought 38-55 were .375. I don't know about specific rifles but I would expect them to be the correct diameter.

Actually tbrwlf all the original 38-55 were .377-.379 But I'm thinking the new ones may be .375 but don't know hence the question.

To the best of my knowledge, all the new ones are .375, sure beats dealing with the old ones that can run up to .381!!

Well I answered my own question by calling Winchester Cust service, they even answered the phone and informed me it is .379 groove dia. So it is an honest 38-55 in every way.

Ok so can we get .379 jacketed bullets commercially or are they only available in .375 dia. What about factory 38-55 ammo if we can get some, what are they? Thanks

I have some CIL 's that are .377"

Barnes still make 255 gn .377 but no .379 I'm aware of. I bought it for cast bullet target shooting anyway so the bore dia doesn't matter just as long as one knows WHAT it is.

I have a 38-55 M94 "Legendary Frontiersman" built circa 1980. It's groove diameter is .3776"

I have shot Barnes original .377" Jacketed SP bullet with very fine success.
Even the 255 grain Barnes SP for the 375 Winchester [.375" dia] shoots well in my rifle.

However, when shooting cast, I need at least .379" to shoot well, with .380" being the best of all.

You should "slug" the bore of your highwall, Douglas, just so you know exactly what that groove diameter is.

You can bet I will Eagleye, if I ever get my hands on it, it's been on order now for over 3 months.
