As you guys have seen my post been in the market foe a big bore the last few weeks looking mostly at the CZs 505s to 458s 416s but was just not happy with them.
However I think it was time to step into a real long range rifle and the opertunity came up. A unfired Uberti 1885 high wall 45/90 with Creedmore? spelling?? sights good ones 32" barrel showed its face to me.

I am trading in my old buffalo Classic tomorrow for it respect to the old classic shot well but ran out of elevation at 150 yards with lead based bullets and pistol powders.

I do have a question with the 45/90 can you shoot 45/70 rounds in it.

And does anyone have a load for a 45/90 500gr and IMR 4759 powders.

You can definitely shoot 45/70 out of a 45/90, in fact I've done it in a pre-WWI Marlin 1895 that I used to have. It's really no different than shooting .38 special in a .357 magnum chamber.

Isn't there a concern with throat errosion due to the shorter 45/70 case?

I've heard arguements both ways but I've never really heard anything definitive. In my case I never owned the rifle long enough to care.

My luck has been plan ####TY lately went to look at it and pick it up sights were crap not creedmore the rear aptature could not see through clearly? , front sight was a knock off! The gun was scratched and for 1250.00 + he can keep it!! BTW it was shot alot by the look and lead fowled. Some day I will not learn to count my chickens before they hatch!!!

Oh well was meant to be I guess.
I still have my old buffalo classic LOL!!!
Believe it of not the damd thing shoots very very well 1" for 5 shots at 100 y.
I may just upgrade the williams sights to a target style.

I think I will keep saving and buy a C Sharps new.

You might want to reword your post a bit

like this

Sorry to hear about your bad experiance. But there is nothing wrong with what you allready have. Maybe just a slight upgrade is all you need to make you like it that much more.

Good luck!:)
