The community of Barriere, located 45 min north of Kamloops has just been granted a 30 year lease for a rifle range. The club has the approval to build a 7, 8 & 900m competitive full bore range. The plan is to have 10 target frames. As we are still in the planning stage I am unsure as to whether there will be butts or just make the move to electronic right away. The plan is to build a standard 0-300 m centre fire, 100 m small bore and hand gun range as well as trap houses. The range is located approximately 15 min from town. The 27 hectare site is in a box canyon with the closest residence being 5 km away. This is a great opportunity for the long range shooting community here in BC. Construction is starting now. When you say Barriere has been granted a 30 yr lease for a rifle range, does this mean that the range facilities will be owned and operated by the District of Barriere or will it be owned and operated by a non profit club?
