The community of Barriere, located 45 min north of Kamloops has just been granted a 30 year lease for a rifle range. The club has the approval to build a 7, 8 & 900m competitive full bore range. The plan is to have 10 target frames. As we are still in the planning stage I am unsure as to whether there will be butts or just make the move to electronic right away. The plan is to build a standard 0-300 m centre fire, 100 m small bore and hand gun range as well as trap houses. The range is located approximately 15 min from town. The 27 hectare site is in a box canyon with the closest residence being 5 km away. This is a great opportunity for the long range shooting community here in BC. Construction is starting now. Persons interested in supporting this project are asked to contact us via email at nt-fish-n-game@hotmail.com.

Weird I checked this thread on my phone it had more posts... Anyways, I think there was talk about building camp sites or something to help with the cost of the range but with these kinds of distances I would probably give my left arm (I'm a right handed shooter) to attend a long range shooting course with kinds of distances down range XD <-- Me grinning from ear to freakin' ear at the thought of this range.

Sounds great, but I don't know if I would ever get out there much as 45 minutes + the 90 minutes to get to Kamloops isn't worth the trip from here. Good to hear that there are more big ranges opening up though.

I would kill to have a 900m range 2hrs 15mins from home, as it is us BC competitive shooters have a minimum 6.5hr trip to the nearest range in AB. As I type this, 2 of us from Kamloops spent 13hrs in a vehicle today and have another 7hrs tomorrow from Saskatoon to get to Winnipeg for the Western Canada F-Class Championships.

And 90+45 isn't "worth the trip"?

HEY!! I got an idea!!! If everyone on here that spends a least $50 a month on their data and internet connection would buck up the $50 membership fee to join the Barriere gun club, they could have the range up and running in no time!!! JUST SAYING :>))
