Picked up a new ACOG in the EE, and was wondering if what I'm looking at is normal for one of these. I've never seen an Acog up close before so maybe they're all like this, but even my cheap clone has the equivalent or better level of finish.

Anyways, what I've noticed is the adjuster slots are burred a bit, and aren't perfectly parallel...

Looking into the objective, there are some gold colored flecks behind the lens. The finish is also uneven, and it looks like a little burr on the lock ring slot also....

Maybe I'm obsessing over nothing, but as I have nothing to compare this to I figured this would be the place to find out if this is common with these.

Acog

Yes that appears to be normal wear for a used ACOG, my adjustment screws are also burred and one of mine has a few dark flecks inside. The gold fleks could be some minute brass shavings from the internal adjustment mechanism. No big deal, they are exellent scopes and the only way you normally come across them up here is used with some wear, finish is usually identical to an AR but you will find some rubbing on the high spots usually if used, they can be touched up with a bit of aluma black.

It's not a clone - my ACOG looks the same way. :)

Also, I don't think the clones have fibre optic pipes on the top - and they won't have matchin serial numbers on two pieces. Also, there won't be a Bible verse on the side. :)
