I recently got a new Marlin 17 HMR. I did the bic pen trigger job and I'm still getting used to the scope. I'm pleased with the rifle thus far. I do however find the action quite rigid and not yet smooth. The edges of the channel that the bolt handle travels inside the receiver are very sharp. My older Marlin 22 mag in 925 is much more smooth - the rifle is much more broken in. What can I do to help get the new 17 a smoother action? Should I just go at the action with a fine file and try to smooth off the edges? That sounds right but is there something more to know? ANy ideas on how to smooth out my new Marlin?
