I just received my spike tactical stripped lower. I already have AR, but this one will be my first build. So here what I already have: spike lower, Stag LPK, Stag buffer spring.

I don't even know what barrel lenght or anything else... I just bought this lower for 150$ and I'll build it......

I wait your suggestions. (I already have 14.5)

Pretty much the same things as my very first build...however, I got turned off of Stag LPK due to a missing roll pin. So now I`m snobby and only use Spikes or Daniel Defense LPK`s
So Recce21...do share more info about your 300BLK build...I`m presently sourcing parts for mine...

Still working on it but it kind of went like this:

Bought a Spike's stripped upper and lower, Daniel Defense LPK, MIAD grip and BCM Gunfighter medium latch cocking handle. All this was originally for a 14.5" 5.56mm barrel but I got a new job and decided to treat myself to a KAC SR-15 instead so the build sat idle until I started reading a lot about the 300 Blk round.

So I went to ATRS and priced out a 9.5" 300 Blk barrel, FA BCG, gas block, gas tube, DD 9 inch lite rail and a CTR stock. Gonna top the rifle with an aim point micro dot, DD mount and a set of KAC 45 degree BUIS.

Nothing is spun together yet but it is well on its way!

I agree - go with a 18"+ target rig if you already have a 14.5"

Maybe try to find a slick side upper (NEA?) to build on. The fwd assist is a waste of space on a target rifle.

Is there any reasons for 18" vs 20" ?

I think I might go with a 20" barrel. Wich brand offer a good barrel for a reasonable
Price?

Stainless steel vs regular chrome lined vs "carbu nitrides (tenifier)" ???

Thanks

I wanted to go with the 20" more because I wanted an M16 build, but i can only seem to find the 18" NEA barrels, (not that there's anything wrong with that).... So if I can't find a 20" for a good price, i'll probably settle for the 18" NEA barrel

20" is fine, but most of the new high-speed, low-drag AR DMR builds stateside use 18" HBARs. Maybe because you can spectre-type rails for them - dunno.

My match gun has a 20" gov't profile bbl on it and it works fine.

I just finished my lower.

Spike lower 159$
Stag LPK 95$
Stag buffer spring 5$
Spike heavy buffer 38$
Vltor milspec buffer tube 44$
Lock nut and end plate 10$
Old lmt stock already in stock 0$

Total Cost is 351$ plus taxes and shipping.... I took a lot of smalls part from brownells so no taxes :)

That's coming together nice & budget conscience like. I'm awaiting parts for my first build also. Keep us posted

I try to Get on budget with this AR. I already have an LMT 14.5 and with all the gear it Cost me about 4000$ on january..... Rifle, acog, pelican case, Pmags, lar mags, rangers plates.....

If I can build this one for 1000-1200$ maximum, I'll be happy :)

First we ever heard of this. Interesting.

Snobs use CMT/STAG, snobs who want to spend extra for nothing buy the same parts in a Colt bag instead of STAG (ok, different selector switch).

40 years of manufacturing for DOD M16/M4 = The best small parts. ;)
