I just got on here today and have been looking around. I'm interested in getting an AR-15 or one like it, an M-1 Garand, and 2 semi auto pistols. one close to the P226 that we use on the Navy Ships. Most of this is for improving my shot of course, but also for fun too. I'm interested in what other people might think or recomend. How do I look at what other people have to offer?

Search

First off try the "search" feature in the top tool bar and you can probably find lots of info on most anything you want. I think your query has to be more that 3 letters in length. Select the advanced search feature to narrow it down. Also go to "FAQ" on the tool bar and read the board rules. Saves aggravation for everyone.

hay, thanks a lot! Thats great help. Is there anything you could recommend to someone new who's trying to find decent weapons for himself. I.E. things to watch out for and avoid that might show up. Things to look for when buying from someone so you don't get a lemon weapon. Etc. Any and all help for this green horn is greatly welcome!

First off, welcome to the forum.

The search function will help you find answers to specific questions usually, but just looking through the different forums and asking questions will get you more answers than you want, along with personal beliefs, prejudices etc.

You know the old saying, there's no such thing as a dumb question.

Welcome aboard—it's always nice to see another Maritimer here! I'm guessing that you're already familiar with the AR and SIG's from your work—they'd both be good choices (and there are plenty of SIG vs Glock vs XD vs CZ vs Beretta threads in the Handgun Forum:) to get more info) Unfortunately there are not many gunshops around town where you can try many of these out (although Freedom Ventures is here). Most of us out here mail order from places like P&D, TSE or Wolverine...it's been almost ten years since I bought a new gun locally. The Equipment Exchange forums is a great place to look, too (but awfully addictive!)

I have to agree with Master-G...the EE will cost you a few bucks over yout time here. But it's a damned good place to find deals.

Read lots and ask questions. It's the only way you'll learn.
