I have to thank Armond at Badger Arms for excellent service once again ! Fast, service and he even stayed open late so i could pick up my new plinker. The first time I held this I knew it was a must buy ! So far my quick review is the gun fired a brick 100% failure free out of the box (with out an inital cleaning) with a 30 shot mag ! Not even a 10/22 has that kind of reliablilty as most of those butler creek mags will jam at least a few shots out of 500. With this short of a barrel i questioned its accuracy, but i was hitting pop cans at 100 yards effortlessly. The only thing i dont like is cleaning it is harder then the S&w mp15-22, but it makes up for it in overall fun and just bad ass factor. The gun comes to just under 24" OAL with the stock collapsed, a little heavier then the S&w mp15-22 but its all metal so thats to be expected. The pics are bone stock, ive only had the gun a day so ill dress it up with a bunch of accesories and have it looking even better in no time. Soo excited about this gun !! Badger has them on sale now for 699 !

I guess it depends on what kind of range's you can go to. Hell my range even has gophers show up in it. I dont care if its restricted, it still puts a smile on my face every time. Make different kinds of targets, plant plastic spoons in the ground and try shoot the head off at 100 yards. I laugh when people think "its restricted" means its no fun. I can see that being said with a 5 shot ar-15, but with a 30 round .22 you can shoot all day for cheap it really is the most fun plinker you can buy.

Looks awesome. Can you comment on why it's "harder to clean" than the S&W model? Also, does it come with a 20-round mag or 30-round? Does the flash hider come off?

Thanks.

I did a mock-up with photoshop of what I'd do to it if I were to get one... added a RDS + fake can. Looks sweet, doesn't it? :)

Well, you just set me back roughly 850$. :D

I decided on 20-round magazines (seen above in the photoshop), though... the 30-rounders aren't exactly aesthetically pleasing. Can't wait to get this one to the range!

Wow looks sick,, I cant decide what kind of optic i want to run on it. I had a carry handle and fake-cog on my Mp15-22 which looked good for the lenth of the gun. I like having iron sights for 50 yard or less and the fixed 4 for anything farther. When i mounted that setup on this it just didnt look right. I really was supprised how accurate this weapon is considering the barrel lenth so id like something with a mulitplier on it. The flash hider does come off, the barrel is threaded. Im not sure if its 1/2 x 28 though.

As for harder to clean, the Mp15-22 you just pop the rear pin tilt it and pull the bolt out. Allowing you full access to the barrel from the back so you can push rod a patch through. With the colt when you pop the rear pin you need to pull the guts out like a sleeve. Still simple to do but you need to disassemble it (5 screws) to get full access to the bolt and the barrel. It takes more time but you can really get into every crack and crevis that the mp15-22 can hide. So long and short of it is, you are able to clean the Colt better but it takes more time. For me thats half the fun so im ok with that.

Did you pick it up from badger ? I like the looks of the 20 shot mag better but i really like being able to blast 30 off in rapid fire mode. Once that wears off (which im sure it never will) id be more happy to load the 20 shot instead of the 30's. Believe me you will be happy to have spent more money on this weapon.

I see. Thanks for your feedback! Doesn't sound like cleaning is too big of a deal, then. More time needed but not horrible.

Were you able to pick between a 20-round mag and a 30-round mag? The former definitely looks a lot better (more proportional) but I wouldn't mind buying a 30-rounder for range use.

As for the sights, I agree that perhaps a fixed 4x would be good, since the iron sights should be good enough for anything up to 30 yards (for me anyway. I have horrible vision lol).

I like how it's all-metal as well... feels better than the polymer MP15-22 that I tried at the shop the other day.

The gun comes with a 20. I picked up two 30's, but i think you can buy either the 20 or 30 for a spare. If not id be willing to part ways with my 20.

Oh my Gawd I really like that .22!! Super short barrel badass plinker; I'll take 2!

(imagine if it came in .22 Magnum!... would that bring it within the silly 5-round rule? Just wondering.)

Sooo badass! Really, I'm laughing my head off right now, gotta get one of these

Is it restricted because of the barrel length? A ruger SR22 is non-restricted?

I think the OAL makes it restricted. Its just under 24" i think the cutoff is 29 ? The charging handle as well for some stupid reason makes it restricted. If its on the side your ok, on top no deal. Ill post pics of me stripping it to clean it tonight.

Other than looks appeal no need for a restricted gun you can't take anywhere except a certified range. But then again that's just the Govt;s way of discouraging ownership in the first place.Ruger now makes 25rd mags for the 10/22 that can be disassembled for cleaning.Likely not in Canada any time soon but seen them last week Stateside........Harold
