It's just the government using a company they know can both facilitate it and don't have to be researched, incur admin costs, and has the secure storage to get it done. All the contracts they already have, it was a natural choice. Anyone that is choosing to boycott CZ over it, is just talking with their heart and not their brain. If people think CZ had any idea what the deal is/was when it was proposed and accepted, they are so wrong on so many levels. Companies with massive umbrellas, don't know what each and every branch is doing, as they run rather autonomously for efficiency reasons. Hyundai heavy industry has zero clue what Hyundai passenger cars are cooking up, and vice versa.
Colt Canada has pretty much been the defacto exclusive long rifle/arms manufacturer for the CF, and was the obvious choice for destruction. Anyone that pays any attention to how Colt behaves, knows they don't care about the civilian market and focus almost exclusively on government and agency contracts. Choosing not to buy a CZ because a sister company under an umbrella in the latest acquisition to the CZ group umbrella, acted as predicted, is goofy.
If you look at Australia, literally any metal fab shop has the capability to carry out destruction en masse. Iron workers, metal saws, smelters and presses are more than enough to render a gun useless. At the end of the day, most people don't care and the vocal minority are all here.
