Many alloys used to jacket the bullet do not pass a magnet test. Regardless of bullet composition the magnet is the highest authority for many indoor ranges.

A lot of the fmj lead core ammo I picked up are still failing the magnet test, and my range won't allow it. They even showed the ammon cut to let us see its almost a 50% lead to bimetal ratio on the bullet. I love there are more 7.62s coming out but sucks most indoor ranges won't allow it if it sticks to magnets
