Hey all! I'm kind of new to the gun space, haven't ever owned a gun, but been around them semi-regularily. I live in the whale-tail of ontario, but i lived alot of my life in northern alberta. I'm mainly looking for advice and experience on how to enter the gun world, as well as a potential side buisnedd of gunsmithing. I hope to chat with you all alot in the years to come!

Seems like sound advice 😅
You want to consider deciding on a scope of work or area you wish to become expert in.
Complete restorations from found in a pond transformed to museum quality, bread and butter jobs,, tear downs cleaning , inspection etc.
Woodworking side of things, stock duplication and repairs, day-to-day day things like barrel chops, choke threading, scope mounting, sling stud installs etc.

Visit some gun shop websites, Canada and USA and see the services offered and pricing, het and idea of what you'd be able to regularly do in order to keep the business alive.

Gun owners are some of the cheapest people around and whine non stop about anything and everything regarding gunsmith work.

Great! Do you know if there's any regulations around performing such work? Or is it just pulling the right permits. I saw your addition to my other comments, and I really appreciate your takes. Hope that we can continue connecting.

As a P.S. to my welcome , I've worked on guns for the better part of 65 years . From fixing a firing pin on my uncles single shot with a finishing nail as a lad (10ish) to more complex work of refinishing stocks . Main thing I learned in later stage of fixing , for profit not for friends is TAKE PICTURES ! If there's a scratch somewhere your gona get blamed if you can't prove otherwise . Cost me a not so cheep scope that had one in a place I know I didn't touch ! Good Luck !
