I was on the Lapua site today, and it appears that Lapua has changed the B.C.s on several of their bullets recently. In the case of the 6.5mm Scenars, they are lower by .02 to .03.Does anyone know why the B.C.s have changed?

I think that is correct. For the longest time Lapua rated their 105 6mm Scenar as having a G1BC of .535. When Litz published his book, he showed (like most bullet manufactureres) that their stated BC's were much lower than advertised.

Lapua bullets are about the most consistent I have ever measured, but they are not the greasiest by a long shot.

Reading Bryan Litz's book was an education on exterior ballistics that even someone like me could understand.. It wouldn't suprise me if other bullet manufacturers did the same.

Just use Litz's numbers, they are accurate and JBM has them. If you're using a different ballistics calculator, tweak the BC in it until the trajectory matches JBM with a Litz BC.

Thanks. Now I am wondering how Berger arrives at their numbers.

Berger used to use a computed BC using the dimensions of their bullet and a piece of software, but since 2008/2009 they have been actually test-firing to derive their numbers. Their numbers represent the average BC from 3000 fps to 1500 fps, which is the area most shooters are worried about.

iSnipe also uses Litz coefficients where possible. Just sayin'

Bryan Litz is the chief ballistician at Berger. If you believe their BC numbers are computed, you are very misinformed. Just sayin'
