Completely agree. I missed the carry through the bush requirement in the orginal post. Any chassis stock is going to be cumbersome and absolutely unpleasant to carry. Before you buy anything, I'd want to figure out what the weight of the entire system is going to be. A near 20 lbs. weight is going to be a limitation.

Why not consider a McMillan A1 or A1-A3? You can get them in a number of fill weights and their size would compliment your desire to keep the whole thing as compact as possible.

Nice gun. I enjoy my 20-inch HS-stocked version so much that I got one of these shorties as well (both in .308), and it seems to show promise.

It'll be nice to read some posts of yours that aren't devoted to that goofy little squirt gun you normally use.

Love these. Really thinking it would make a fun little bush rifle/small hunting rifle if you topped em with a 1/6 power votex pst or even a fixed power ACOG. Hmmmmm

I had a 700LTR in 308 that was as accurate as any 700 I've owned (which is a fair few, and none worse than sub-MOA with handloads).

I suspect you'll enjoy that rifle; good I think that you've pegged your first round hit range at 500, as you'll probably want to use fast powders to drive lighter bullets with that short barrel.

Don't hunt without earpro with that brake though... you'll regret it.

What about an MDT LSS chassis, should be a little lighter than the others. Mine has a 20" barrel in a tac 21. I wouldn't enjoy taking it through the bush.

It might be an option as it'd be lighter, however, it's far from ideal as far as hunting is concerned, if that's a goal of his. Useless forearm area that offers little in the way of support and being able to shoot steadily from any position other than prone with a bipod. Very little to no protection of the barrel either.

That's true. I would have to say the best option for hunting and target would be an HS precision. Cheaper too. Inlet it with bottom metal that accepts Ai mags if you want that option.

Most people over look it because it's not new, flashy, shiny, or has rails hanging off of it, but a HS Precision LTR stock is a great choice for a lot of good solid reasons.
