New BAR ?

Does anybody know more about this rifle? Wondering lop, BBL length? For some reason it's not listed which is quite odd? at 6lbs 9 ozs it looks like a handy little deer rifle though.

22'' non-magnum, and 24'' magnum.I think the WSMs are 23''.

I prefer the all sleel reciever on the safari model!

Not sure about that. This thing only weighs 6 lbs 9 ozs in .308 win. They need to shave weight somewhere? The website doesn't fill in the info for some strange reason?

Good question, I thought it was just a Camo Lightweight Stalker but it is 8oz lighter?

For what it is worth I have both the Safari with the metal reciever and 3 short trac's, I really prefer the short tracs. Not sure why most like the steel receiver BAR's, I have had zero problems with the alloy receivers, but to each their own. That being said if I ever find a good deal on 280 rem BAR, it will be coming home with me.

The aluminum reciever doesn't concern me. Many assault rifles that men carry in battle and stake thier lives on also have aluminum recievers. I'm thinking this new model has to have a short barrel. Where else would they shave 8 ozs ?

Aluminum is aboue 1/3 the weight of steel. Not hard to figure out the weight difference.

No No. This model is actually 8 ozs lighter than the aluminum recievered blue/synthetic lightweight stalker that has a 20" barrel.

I have a Remington Model 7400 in the 280 but would prefer a BAR, wish Browning would chamber the Long Trac Stalker in it!

I wouldn't think they could drop that much weight by shortening the 20" barrel the Lightweight stalker has? Maybe they have gone back to the short action receiver they used to make for the 308win and 243win?

Never heard of a short action reciever in the older BAR;s but this new one might be something like that.
