I chambered my first rifle barrel on tuesday of this week. Did a bit of load development yesterday and this morning. My buddy came out from the other side of Ottawa with his RPR.
Decided to go out for some ground hogs. The fields are getting pretty thin, between the crop rotations and shooting close to 100 ground hogs off the farm in the last 3 years. Any ways my buddy got a ground hog. Then convinced me to go to another farm and try a last light coyote stand. I've been told that pup distress works great this time of year.

Literally 20 mins of shooting light left we sit down, fire up the e caller, let out a couple interrogation barks and howls, wait a minute and fire up pup distress. 5 mins into the set and I catch the tiniest bit of movement down the hill to my left. Then lost him. I am trying to talk my buddy onto were the dog is, the way we were set up on the hill we couldn't see to the very bottom of the hill. I catch the dog jump out of the tall grass to our right then lost him again. About 1 minute goes by and I see movement to our left where I saw it the first time. Then it starts barking and yipping at us. I couldn't believe it. I transitioned to a high kneeling and let a 75 AMAX go from my little 223. I shot at what I could see and spined him pretty good. Down he goes.

He crossed our path that we took on our way in. I think because I had my dog with me it kept him around, and pissed off. My dog was flopping around and rolling around in the tall grass and panting his ass off as it was still 30 degrees after 8pm.

Nice work!!! Ive always wondered how a 75 or even 82 gr bullet in the .223 would be on fur, did it blow a huge hole on entry or exit??

It was a very high spine shot, perfect broadside, it made a fist sized in and out, range was only 75M. I intend to shoot as many of them as I can so I'll update as I go. They have to be better than my 105 amax from my old 243AI
