I have a 1943 FN Hi-Power, with WaA marks. I shoot it occasionally. I really love shooting this pistol, but I would like to get a new barrel for it to stop wearing out the old, matched numbers one. Is it possible to get a new one that would work in an old Hi-Power?

Thanks

Yes,

Any war-time or post-war Inglis or FN barrel should be able to be fitted to your 1943 FN Hi-Power.

It may not be possible to go the other way however, as an old barrel may not fully lock into position in a new gun.

A pre-war FN Hi-Power (or MkI Inglis) with the round locking block may require a custom made barrel.

I fitted an after market "FN" made bbl to my Inglis. It took a little bit of fiddling, but not much.

It actually shoots better with the after market bbl. Everything is tighter in the lockup stageand a little snugger in the slide.

Overall a good move.

Many shops will have a competition bbl in stock.

Any barrel will require fitting by a smithy, but any BHP barrel will fit. The SS .41 AE barrel(and 500 pcs of brass) I bought, long ago, for my Inglis went right in with no fuss. Don't even think about a .41 AE barrel now though. There's no ammo or brass available.
You can't just install a .40 S&W barrel either.

Thanks!

Do you know where barrels can be bought separately?

Mike I have an Inglis barrel that is as close to new as you can find.
It had been installed in an Iglis witht he same thought in mind...to preserve the original barrel and shoot a replacement.
I am selling this barrel...PM me if you are interested.
Cheers
