I have a small problem. I usually have 40 - 50 ducks in my pond or a similar amount of geese in my field this time of year... Grandpas old Belgian A5 doesn't have an invector barrel and getting one is going to cost about the same as buying a new pump action...

Here is what I am considering:

Weatherby PA-08 upland
Remington 870 express
Mossberg 500 bantam
Mossberg 535 waterfowl
Winchester super x
Winchester sxp marine defender
Buy an invector barrel for the old A5 (there is something cool about hunting with grandpa's gun)

Anything else you might suggest.

Being a big fan of the Auto-5, I'd say grab an Invector barrel for it (and if it's only $400, grab it and run!). The hardest part might actually be finding a barrel, I know for my last one I had to get it imported from the US.

Getting a new pump might be more practical...but shooting a bird with Grandpa's gun is a lot more special.

Cory, what hoops did you have to jump through to import it from the us? I have found a couple in the states.

Did you need to get a BIS License or did you work with someone like irunguns to bring it in?

As grelmar says ''Grandpa's gun. I guarantee the birds will taste better.''
I will second the taste better part and offer this bit of advice...
Have it reamed to modified and go shoot them pesky ducks and geese.
Using steel shot of course....

having the barrel remed out to mod will not cost very much you can even have it done over with thin wall chokes .,my gun smith quoted me 75 $ to tap my barrel for the choke tubes plus the price of the chokes them self.i am having this done to my marlen model 120 12g magnum pump Dutch

Thank you to everyone for the advice... Here is what I did...

I dropped of the A5 to get modified and got the PA-08... First shot with the PA-08 got one of those pesky ducks...

It is a pretty nice fit and finish and I'm quite happy with it so far.

I would open it up even a bit more than Modified, closer to Imp Cylinder. Steel patterns tigher than lead. I use Cyl Bore for ducks over decoys and it is deadly.

And don't shoot anything larger than BB through it unless you also get the forcing cone lengthed. There is a "sticky" topic on this subject in the Shotguns forum.
