Hi everyone,

Sorry if this is the wrong section for this thread!

I have Tikka T3x CTR in .308
Purchased it used and have no idea how many round were shot through it before I got this rifle. Already shot couple of thousands rounds by myself.

Recently I found that the groups started getting bigger and inconstant.

I love this rifle, it fits me perfectly, so want to purchase a new barrel for it.
Want to have heavy barrel, same as I have now, but 24" or 26" instead of 20".

This what I want to know:

1. Can you please recommend some good company in Canada, that can make and/or sell the good barrel for my rifle?
I'm in BC, but can consider all Canada. Seems like guys in US should follow the export process and it will be crazy expensive, as they said.

2. For my current barrel I have Rate of Twist 11" 4 groove, but thinking of having 10" 5 groove for new barrel.
Taking in consideration that I'm shooting Sierra Matchking 168 90% of the time for sport shooting and Barnes ttsx 165, 180 for hunting, - does this idea makes sense?

3. Which barrel contour should I select for this rifle? I thought about M24/M40, but the closest to the existing barrel is Remington varmint. At least this is what I found on forums. What do you think?

4. I want to get fixed shoulder, but what is the advantage of having variable shoulder? I didn't find a lot information about this.

5. Any difference from accuracy perspective between Stainless Steel barrels and Black? Most prefit barrels available on market are made from Stainless Steel.
I like it from maintenance perspective in our wet province, but the possible impact on accuracy is more important for me.

Sorry if some questions look stupid, I am not an expert here so far :)

Thanks for reading!

We can certainly rebarrel your Tikka, we do this all the time and guarantee no worse than .5 MOA accuracy with decent factory ammo. Sending to a foreign country can prove to be a total nightmare and IF things go sideways good luck resolving it.
A 10 twist is now common for 308 as it gives you more flexibility on projectile weights. A 10 twist will easily stabilize 150 grain to 220 grain projectiles.
A barrel blank is normally 1.250" in diameter and can be contoured to whatever you wish.
I don't understand your "shoulder" question. Are you possibly meaning the recoil lug?
You will find most precision shooters use stainless barrels. Accuracy is in no way compromised by running a stainless barrel. Stainless also tools better so you typically get a finer finish than with chrome moly, but we are REALLY slitting hairs here. Stainless can be made black, or any color and is far more rust resistant than chrome moly is.

There are very few stupid questions, sometimes the answers are insane however.
