Hello everyone. I am new to shotguns and just bought 870 with 28" and 18" barrels. It is brand new from gun shop and I did not notice chunk out of barrel at store. Arrived home and started to inspected barrel prior to cleaning and now noticed a gouge in the bore. It is a third of the way down from the chamber and is several mm deep and wide. I am I just paranoid or is this going to affect performance/patterning????
I am going to have to inspect individual firarms a whole lot closer before buying.
Having bad run with new purchases. The Savage I bought yesterday also has bad pits/tooling marks on bolt lug, mag well and rear face of reciever. Really starting to feel like a lemon magnet. Almost all of my guns I have bought new to avoid this kind of s_hit. WTF???
