SO I am putting a new JC barrel on my Ruger RPR. The factory barrel was 20" and the JC is 24". The factory barrel was quite a challenge when developing a load for it. I tried everything from 155 to 180 of various types of bullets and tried two different powders before I was happy with the results. I ended up using Varget and 178 A-max bullets before I was satisfied. Now I have a longer barrel which means more velocity which is great but what bullet to choose to start with. The new barrel is 1:10 twist finished at 24" with a muzzle break and I know it will be much easier to find a pet load for it because of the quality vs that of a factory barrel. I will be target shooting out to 400 yards and hunting deer and bear with it and would love one bullet to do both. What do you all think of the 165 SST for this application? I was thinking on going back to N150 for powder as well only because I use that in my other rifles.
