new bases for old enfields

Very interesting!!

Still though I think id still use my S&K no drill mount. It's rock solid and I can use it on several rifles without drilling holes.

The only problem I find with the S&K and ATI no smith mounts are that the put the scope very high. The enfield action is a tall action to start with so adding these mounts just makes it ridiculously high IMO. The mounts they are making here will be the lowest available for the #4 action even slightly lower than the weaver TO-1 (which sucks because you can only use 22 style rings on it)
My favorite set up is the PH 20/21 system with rear aperature removed and use low(rals3) rings . This gets the scope quite low but still allows generous room for a 40mm obj scope and I think a 50mm obj would even fit as well.

Very gold point about how high the scopes sit. With medium Burris z- rings on my S&K mount I could only go with a 40 mm objective, and it still sits high. The use of a strap on cheak riser is almost manditory.

I'd like to see a picture of the above mentioned mounts installed on a LE action.

There are adapters that allow Weaver style rings to attach to tip-off mounts like the Weaver TO-1. (Kwik-site makes one.) But they add a layer so you'd lose that redeeming feature of the TO-1.

The best mount I have ever seen for an enfield is on 303 british dot com. It is cheap, easy and strong as hell. It is called the indestructible scope mount.
