I was thinking in bringing your gun in to have our gunsmith to replace the bolt, but if you prefer I can send to you a new bolt instead, let me know

Also, I forwarded your concerns to the manufacturer in regards of the magazine catch, they informed me that this has been pretty common with VZ. 58s since day one, even on the originals and conversion like CZ-858.

Regardless, they confirmed will send a new shortened magazine catch to replace yours. I will ship it as soon as it is received.

Exactly.

Tons of parts laying around in the Czech republic. I'm sure that bolt came from a parts bin and slapped in. These rifles are dirt cheap in the Czech Rep, but like Cuban cigars which are $10/box there and once they arrive in Canada are super expensive, these rifles are marked up to the moon and back as it's a "Canadian AK".

I wouldn't pay $1300 for a VZ58... I paid $649 some years ago and that's probably what they should sell for today as well.
 
I'm just surprised that after many years ppl don't see a difference between small company making knock-offs CSA VZ58s and original rifles (apart of barrel) - CZ858s. It's like buying Chinese Sonnyo TV for the price of original Sony. Yeah, number of components could be the same.

This is not true. How many different companies make Ar15's. Who's are knock off's and who's aren't?
This is the first time I've had a problem but this isn't even a problem really it's just a worn-out part. There are more threads on cgn about Ar15's and their problems then there are about vz.58.
 
I've had good luck with all the three VZ58's I had. All were x39 had no issues. I only kept one, but should have kept them all seeing how prices have gone.
I'm sure others feel the same.....ahhh they were sweet deals back in the day of low prices!

What problem did you have with yours?
 
Mine is 1600 rounds in and shows basically no signs of internal wear. The outside is beaten to hell, but I like being rough with my guns. CSA, IMO makes a fantastic product. It has never failed me, although one of the mags it came with was f'd. I don't get the hate for these rifles, although the price is getting frustrating.
 
So a broken bolt and firing pin would have been surplus parts from a cz858. Three guns are fantastic. Been pumpin lead down range for the last couple years in multiple VZ and never a problem aside from a piston being a little out of whack, once again a surplus CZ part, swapped out and it ran like a top

There's a difference in requirements and quality assurance and testing between authentic military rifle and a clone made by small private company that is free to impose (or not to impose at all) whatever quality requirements they want. However Jedem das Seine.

So what you only buy military grade rifles? Anything other than that is nut up to yur snuff?

No, I don't always buy only military rifles, I have some commercially made firearm too. However if I have an option to choose I would trust the quality of military-grade rifle and not commercial clone. That was my point as ppl seem to endlessly complain about CSAs. Just wanted to share my experience and what I know. That was my mistake as I can see. The desire to justify one's own choice prevails in many ppl.

Jedem das Seine is good and very old German proverb. It's as much Nazi as you want it to be. You eat potato, don't you? Nazi ate it too.

That's just what I found when I Google it. Don't really care who used it wasn't trying to make any point.

You're the one trying to justify why you think csa are junk, I never tried to justify anything.

Got new bolt today from north sylva so that only took a week from first contact with them. So north sylva warranty worked for me. He even sent me a complete bolt with firing pin and extractor!
