New bead sight for 870

Well my shotgun fell in just a way that the white bead sight smashed when it hit the ground

It was a white bead that threaded into the vent rib.
I took the rest of it out.

I am looking for a replacement front sight

High viz would be nice. Any recommendations?
 
Is the gun used for shooting slugs or for wingshooting? If you use it for wingshooting, buy a factory replacement bead from Western Gun Parts. Hi viz beads are more of a distraction than they are a benefit for wingshooting.
 
You just need to determine the factory thread pitch and size and then order what ever you like or try and pick something up locally if available.
Hi viz, brass,White ect are personal choices.
 
It's a 21" vent rib that I will be using for grouse and rabbits.

I have a fire sight on a lever gun. I like it.

Why would a high viz bead be a distraction.

Some people just don't like them and prefer a different bead. I guess it distracts them so much they can't focus on the target.
If you are shooting orange clays with an orange sight or green clays with a green sight for instance.... rabbits and grouse not such a big deal.

Most beads are pretty cheap so if you are going to mail order maybe try a few different ones?

If you try and aim a shotgun while wingshooting, like you would aim a rifle, you will fail miserably. When you are wingshooting, you should be concentrating on the target, not on the bead. If the bead is very prominent, like a hi viz bead, many people end up concentrating on the bead, rather than on the target. I have actually helped people to improve their skeet scores, by simply removing high viz strips that they had attached to the rib of their shotgun.

That's a training issue. Not a site issue. IMO.

Anyway. For the price I will get a few to try.
I just want somthing strong.
