New bolt handle causing issues

I have a Savage Model 12 F/TR and I recently purchased a replacement bolt handle for it (carbon fibre, lighter, longer, cooler...) and have had some problems with it ever since.

Installation was a breeze, but I'm having problems with it occasionally locking up after firing a round. The bolt handle will lift (moves freely up and down), but will not pull the bolt back to eject the fired case. Most of the time when it happens, a firm tap will get it moving, but on a couple occasions it was extremely difficult to get the bolt to release.

I can't see anything binding when it's installed, and when I put the original bolt handle back on the problem disappears.

I'd really like to make this handle work, but it's just too unreliable at the moment. There are no gunsmiths in my immediate area, and I'd like to sort this out on my own (if at all possible) before I make the trip to a gunsmith or ship the rifle to one.

Any suggestions as to what may be causing this problem?

sounds like a primary extraction issue. as bolt lifts it is suppose to act like a cam and start the extraction. I have read up about it quite a bit but not really seeing it or how it works on my extraction issue.
There is more information on a Forum for Savage owners. not sure if I can include a link.
