Myself and Mad Dog helped this fellow with his chapter on the MHG. I have a number of photo credits for some of my items. The book has 7 chapters on the following manufacturers Mosin-Nagant, Mauser, Enfield, Berthier, Remington, Savage, Winchester. The book will be available in June. Here is a link to the site. And no there is nothing in this for either Mad Dog or myself, just trying to pass along info for a book that could be a great reference for a number of collectors here.

Anyone know anything about that Savage Millitary Lever action on the front cover? I have never seen a Savage 99 with a bayonet before

Buy the book and you will learn more :D

A militia group from Montreal known as the Montreal Home Guard special ordered these rifles from Savage during the first world war. Savage had made a military rifle in the late 1800's and early 1900's but they were not offered to the public after about 1903. There were a total of just over 800 rifles ordered. This is just a short piece of the story and I am waiting to hear the remainder from the book. Luke has done some wonderful research and I have been quite impressed with some of the information that he has been able to uncover. I can't wait for my copy to arrive. The book will contain pictures of my two MHG's and some of the other MHG / savage items that I have.

I just got 100 Years of Winchester Ammo out of the US, list price was $70 USD, shipping Priority Post Air Mail for $25, no duties. I have contacted the publisher to find out how they intend on shipping the book, but if it is shipped UPS then yes there are going to be additional charges. Here are a couple of my rifles that will be in the book.

I know they are English, but I am surprised they didn't add a chapter on Hopkins and Allen for all the Belgian Mausers during the first war???

Just got my first books, it is better than expected. The photo's are great, paper quality is better than expected for a $50 book and the content is excellent. Luke has been able to find some really interesting history on our Montreal Home Guard. This part of our WWI history is not very well documented and this is the first time that all of this information has been compiled into a single book. Really good stuff.

The publisher will send this books to Canada via USPS, so no brokerage fees from UPS. If this stuff interests you I would highly recommend this book. All it takes is a quick and painless phone call with a Visa number and it will be in the mail.

On the acknowledgments you will see a couple of CGN members for their help on the MHG chapter, myself and Mad Dog.

Mine arrived today, only had a quick glance but from what I have seen - appears to be an excellent book. Its been well received on Gunboards.

Heads up for the K98k mauser collector: a new book to consider is Kreigsmodell. Volume 3 is sold out and Volume 1 is due out in March. Reviews are excellent - I'm awaiting for my copy.
