so i purchased a bag of new Winchester brass last year.
finally got around to reloading it today.
didnt know if i should prep it like i do used brass, i could think of no issues why i couldnt.
so i resized and then went to trim, about 20% didnt need any, rest just needed a nibble off them to get them to the proper length.
but i did notice something strange.
picked up a Wilson trimming kit over the winter and got to use it for the first time.
i trimmed up around 200 used brass before i got to the new stuff.
and i noticed with the new stuff that they do not fit in the brass holder that comes with the Wilson set.
im guessing because they have not been fired yet and expanded.
its kinda strange.

i took a couple pics and a small video to show the brass 'wiggling' in the go/no go gauge.
im guessing this wont cause any issues????

They're probably a tiny bit undersized compared to fired and resized brass.

All I ever do for prep on new brass is neck size to make sure all the case mouths are round and correct and maybe trim if some of the mouths look ragged. I don't think I've ever had any really need a length adjustment from new.

Case should be held like your first picture and seated with a gentle tap on the head. My guess is you are using new brass in the fired case holder. New brass should be sized - fired and then trimmed. Even better not trimmed before 2-3 firing to make sure they are fire formed properly before trimming them.
