New Brunswick Gunsmith recommendations?

I'm not aware of any top of the line smiths in NB. Palmer brothers in Fredericton were good but they threw in the towel years ago. There are guys who work on guns but I wouldn't trust some of them with some skilled work on an expensive gun.
Beware of the "gunsmith" who also sharpens skates and fixes lawnmowers.

I remember when I first moved to NB for a job. I needed a motorcycle tank painted and asked around for a good painter. All I got was, "Well, I can tell you who NOT to get to paint it." NB is an odd place.

Rob, maybe contact The Gun Dealer in Macadam. They should know someone local to you; at least get a few refs.
And I believe they have a gunsmith on site, but I've never been interested to ask about it.

I remember being at The Gun Dealer and asking about routine gunsmithing like drilling and tapping for a scope, cutting and re-crowning a barrel, re-chambering a shotgun from 2 1/2 to 2 3/4. I was told that their "gunsmith" couldn't do any of these jobs and that for rechambering a shotgun, they would normally send the gun to "the States."

How long ago was this ???

He does so have a smith on site now ! "Chris" has been there for a few years for sure, he does quite a fair bit of stuff inhouse. My squad mates recently had some issues with his DT 10 not firing in different barrel order....within the hour, he fixed it for him on the spot.
Another instance a new Citori (2 months old) refused to lock up properly and fire...again, within 45 minutes it was fixed. He said it was the first Citori he's ever seen with "that burr" issue ! Figured it went out of the factory doors friday evening at 4:59 or monday morning at 8:01...lol

Don't know if he does any lathe work or not ....lots of "gunsmiths" around who wouldn't have the know how or specialty equipment needed to rechamber a shotty.

What are you looking to get done and where are you in NB? John at Marshall Precision in NS is good, Ron Surette in St Antoine is also very good, not sure if he’s taking any work on. Also, JC as mentioned
