Since I've signed up with GunNutz I've mostly been using it to browse and email some buds who are into shooting and into helping me get through this firearms learning curve. Thought maybe it was time for broader introduction and possibly more opportunities to learn from the crowd here.

I am an early 30's gal with about a year in on doing some shooting and learning about firearms. Finally got my safety courses in and now I am going through the hoops to get my PAL. People have been very welcoming and encouraging, and never hesitate to get me equipped or take time to answer my questions or help me with my stance.

My only challenge will be finding gear to suit me....Bootslothing, firearms, holsters I am barely over 5 feet, about 126 lbs, size (boys) feet, and small hands.....options are limited boys and I am frustrated with it at times. Again, buds and gun club members have been considerate of this challenge and doing whatever they can to accommodate and give suggestions. So far,I am looking at S&W M&P 9mm....interchangeable grip plates, ambidexterous.

If you have any suggestions on equipment or where to shop, feel free.

Otherwise I am really enjoying it. I am particularly interested in semi-automatic pistols, and in IDPA shooting. I was fortunate enough to recently become a Safety Officer for the IDPA, and hope to classify, SO, and possibly even compete in the new year.

Must be some pretty decent guys in your area helping you out. I'm sure they'd accept an extra large Timmy's coffee (2 cream/5 sugar) as a token of gratitude.;)

Welcome aboard. Try and find someone who's got a Ruger 22/45 .22 cal
The grip is fairly small. My 7 year old can wrap his hands around it pretty well.
The last time I checked (which is when I bought mine) the 4.5" slab side barrel was 309.95. The other nice thing about 22's is you can go to the range and shoot all day for 20 bucks.

Ya... I caught that... not very oblique (it was a joke). I have a lot of respect for anyone helping out another in our sport... it's one of the things that seperates us out from the snot-nose Lieberals.
As for the coffee... after 2 creams and 5 sugars, it no longer qualifies as coffee (maybe a Coffee Crisp? ;))

My two daughters when they visit me we try to get some range time, usually pistol shooting here.
I have a Ruger Mk2 5.5 inch bull barrel, of course its a 22 LR. The oldest girl is
about 110 lbs, and they both like the newest purchase.
Its a Star Model FR, its the shortest 22 pistol, and still resticted only. They have not mentioned the weight, therefore I do not tell them its all ordnance steel.
They both like it for indoor range practice.
Although it has fixed sites, they do not mind as this is for informal practice only.
What I personally like about it is, that all of its controls, safety and magazine release are all in the same spot as any Browning Hi-Power or Colt 1911 etc.

The Ruger though, kicks a** in the accuracy deparartment by a wide margin...
PS: What blacksmithden mentioned, the Ruger 22/45, would be a great choice and accurate too!
But I digress to the Star FR for an IDPA "trainer," good training for a larger piece, if you do not mind the lower scores in practice only.(spare mags and parts could be a problem though)
