I picked up 7mm STW for hunting, have not used it yet, but have had it to the range and it is a great round... However, I have always shied away from belted cases for use in F-class as my understanding these tend to stretch in the area beyond the belt. In match shooting you spend alot of time preparing brass and I could not see the point of doing all that work on brass that has a short competitive lifespan. I would like to hear from guys with experience shooting belted magnums, how many reloads do you get from each piece of brass? Also , since I am new to this cartridge I would not mind hearing who makes the best brass for this?

Nice rigs. Makes a barrel dealer rub his hands with glee :dancingbanana:

The issue with the belted case is the reamer used to cut the chamber. Factory reamers are either oversized or 'beveled' where there is no ridge in the chamber for the belt. There is just a taper from the top of the belt to wear the case is. Lots of space for a case to bulge and fill that void.

If you have a reamer where there is a distinct 90deg notch for the belt and a tight fit to the brass, brass life is no different then any other case.

Some have gone to an undersized belt sizing on the reamer and turning the brass for a precise fit.

I shot several 7RMs that had chambers cut with such a tight reamer. Ran them nice and toasty without issues. Even ran Rem 7RM brass - which shot superbly by the way

For F class, all that extra case means you can run less pressures thus components are less likely to stretch in the first place.

I will certainly offer discounts when barrels are bought by the dozen :D

You won't be making much off me either :D, this is a hunting rig, but I will probably add a heavier bbl than the factory pencil it has now.

I hunted with a 7stw for years when they first came out you wont have a problems with barrel life loved it loaded all types of loads H1000 ,H870 50 bmg .. it liked all of it Mine was built on a 700 BDL .

Did you get out to the range? Got any results to share? I'm interested in how that long barrel did with the heavies velocity wise and what kind of powder you used. I think Alliant is bringing out some new powder that's for the 338 lapua and I wonder if it would be suited for for combo.
