Hey guys, finally decided on a build, I wanted to stay with a Savage action cou: And kinda went a little higher on the budget than I wanted, but this should be sweet...

Savage stainless steel bolt action blue printed

McGowen Barrel Match .308 1-10 Twist SS

XLR industries stock with AICS mag

Bolt lift kit, over sized tactical knob

Heavy recoil lug

This is kinda of a dream build fo me, really looking forward to getting it and working up some loads.

Let me know what you think. :D

Sounds awesome. Who blue printed the action? Do you have all the parts yet or still getting them together? Any and all pics are gladly appreciated. :)

it is not really a full blue print, simply squaring the action face and bbl nut and he will lap the lugs as well. I apologize for my misunderstanding of the trems. I will get up to speed again I hope!

In the meantime, here are some early pics...

This was an option for a stock till I could afford the XLR, but things came together for me, Can't wait to get it all together!!

The bearing is a thrust bearing to help withe dreaded savage bolt lift. One of the guys on Savage shooters came up with it. Does nothing to aid in accuracy but helps out with the bolt lift.

bear blade,

Thanks for the pics. Looks like a great project.

Sean,
does that multi bearing bolt lift kit work any better than the single bearing 38 special case jobbie?

Mark, this is a new oversized bolt handle... I beleive we are doing a re-do in stainless. I origionaly wanted the whole thing flat black, but got talked into action/barrel satin finished stainless in a black XLR chasis.

Sean, thanks for explaining the bearings :D

Can you explain this a little more? Does this go behind the bolt head?

OK boys and girls! Gettin a wee bit excited... Got an email, the stock made it to Canada, the head spacing is set, and barreled action is in the stock. Apparently the percision of the fit between the inleting on the stock, and the action is extremely tight! I got a couple pics sent, but was informed that better quality ones will come my way tomorrow. There is a good chance I will have the rifle next week!! Holy crap this came together quick! (Naw, I'm not even a little bit excited!! Little kid at Christmas syndrom!)
