This past weekend the new Olympic trap bunker at the Saskatoon Gun Club held its inaugural shoot, hosting the Saskatchewan Provincial championship meet. Shooters from three provinces attended and the match was a great success.

Rains prevented the pouring of the concrete shooting stage, so the meet was held on temporary sidewalk slab stations with wooden walkways. The permanent shooting stage is still (probably) a few weeks away.

None of this took away from the fact that there is now a real, functioning bunker at the Saskatoon Gun Club, joining Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal as the only active venues for international (Olympic) trap shooting in Canada.

Congratulations are due to Lloyd and all the other members of the club for their perseverance, determination and long hours of hard work. Well done! Building a bunker is a complicated and expensive undertaking.

If you are within reach of Saskatoon you must definitely give the new facility a try. It is a rare privilege to be able to shoot over equipment like this. International trap is both humbling and inspiring, and will most certainly improve your skills.

Since the bunker is so new, a schedule of operation is not yet available. Contact the Saskatoon Gun Club for particulars (www.saskatoongunclub.com).

Once again, congratulations and a big THANK YOU to the Saskatoon Gun Club for providing this wonderful facility.
